Power consumption in pib

This page shows pib’s power consumption detailing each power supply output and each actuator input. First table shows pib’s power supplies abilities, second table shows actuators needed input and third table shows how much power each “joint” of pib use.

Results and Observations

  • Camera power break happening at maker fair 2023 happened because of 1 ampere deficit when Raspberry Pi is directly powering camera and LCD screen. Thus LCD screen should have its own power supply, which is also recommended in the official manual for the LCD screen.

  • Shoulder current is not very safe and while it's very possible in all applications to power raspberry pie from main power source. In order to save more current so that shoulder can work raspberry pi should be connected to its own power supply

  • Having a more powerful main power supply which can provide more than 10-amperes of current would be recommended to overcome any breaks or buying the raspberry pie power supply separately. However to not change BOM, Rpi can be connected to its own power supply and motion for shoulder should be minimal.
