pib.Robocup

Welcome to the pib.Robocup team-zone

This is the central knowledge hub and project space for our journey to the RoboCup 2027. Our goal is to bring the open-source humanoid robot pib onto the world stage, competing in the RoboCup @Home league.

Event Details: RoboCup 2027 Nürnberg

The RoboCup Federation has officially chosen Germany as the host country for 2027. This provides us with a unique "home game" advantage, drastically reducing logistics and travel overhead, allowing us to invest our full budget and energy into engineering the best possible robot.

  • Dates: June 15 – 21, 2027

  • Location: Nürnberg Messe (Nuremberg Exhibition Center), Germany

  • League: RoboCup@Home (Domestic and Service Robotics)

Our focus lies strictly on building a platform capable of robust Human-Robot Interaction (HRI), precise manipulation of household objects, and failure-free navigation in highly dynamic, non-standardized environments.

Project Architecture & Documentation

To systematically conquer the challenges of the RoboCup 2027 rulebook, we have divided the engineering effort into distinct, highly detailed domains. Explore our documentation below:

  • Competition Scenarios: A detailed breakdown of the official RoboCup@Home tasks (e.g., General Purpose Service Robot, Restaurant, Laundry) and the atomic capabilities required to master them.

  • Hardware Architecture: The physical foundation of pib.Robocup, featuring the Nvidia Jetson Thor compute unit, Luxonis OAK-D 4 Pro stereo vision, and IEEE 1588 PTP-synchronized E1R Lidar.

  • Software Strategy: Our evaluation of the "Pure Nvidia" (Isaac + GR00T) approach versus a transparent "Hybrid" architecture (nvblox + Hydra + GR00T) to maximize explainability and safety on the field.

  • System work-packages: Our Epic/Story dashboard, managing the step-by-step implementation of all ground-laying system capabilities.

Our Mission

By competing in Nuremberg 2027, we aim to push the boundaries of open-source humanoid robotics. The rigorous constraints of the RoboCup@Home rulebook force us to transcend scripted demos and build true, resilient autonomy. Every line of code written and every hardware module designed for this competition will feed directly back into the pib community. And, last but not least: we want to win! 😎
